Dr. Keene was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. He went to college in northern Wisconsin (1974-1978), receiving a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. The following fall he started vet school at the University of Illinois. In 1982, he received a bachelor of science degree in veterinary medicine and a doctorate of veterinary medicine. After graduation, he came to Tampa to be closer to his parents who had moved to Florida several years earlier. He worked for the next seven years in a 24-hour practice providing him with invaluable experiences. In 1989, he opened Keene Veterinary Hospital and has been serving the Tampa area ever since. He enjoys practicing medicine, surgery, and loves meeting all of the people and pets that come to our hospital. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, sports, boating, fishing, woodworking, and stays busy working on home improvements. He also stays busy taking care of his new puppy Henry, a Bernese Mountain Dog/Standard Poodle mix.

Veterinarian
Dr. Keene, originally from the Chicago suburbs, earned a chemistry degree in Wisconsin (1978) and a veterinary doctorate from the University of Illinois (1982). He moved to Tampa to be near family and worked in a 24-hour practice for seven years before opening Keene Veterinary Hospital in 1989. He enjoys medicine, surgery, and connecting with clients and pets. Outside work, he loves traveling, sports, boating, fishing, woodworking, home improvement projects, and spending time with his Bernedoodle puppy, Henry.

Dr. Bonnville began his undergrad at the University of Tampa and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Florida in 1989. He earned his D.V.M. from the University of Florida in 1993 and has worked at Keene Veterinary Hospital ever since. Originally planning for medical school, he shifted paths after meeting Dr. Keene and Dr. LaDue. He enjoys backpacking, peak bagging, and adventure sports. He and his partner Jennifer, together for 24 years, love traveling and water sports like diving, kayaking, and paddleboarding.

Dr. LaDue earned his veterinary license from the University of Minnesota in 1969. He served his internship at Southbend Animal Hospital in Southbend, IN. His residency was spent in San Gabriel Valley Emergency Hospital in Los Angeles, CA. He has spent time working with Lowry Park Zoo, Busch Gardens, Tampa Bay Emergency Hospital, Forrest Hills Animal Hospital, and of course Keen Veterinary Hospital. He loves to fish, golf, cook, and spend time with his family.

Dr. Drew Martinez earned his undergraduate degree in Animal Biology from the University of Florida before attending St. George's University, completing his clinical training at Auburn University. With seven years of experience in veterinary medicine, he is a Tampa native whose lifelong love of animals inspired his career path. He met his wife during veterinary school, and together they have three children and a Golden Retriever. In his free time, Dr. Martinez enjoys playing and watching sports, spending time with his family, and reading.
